Madeleine Kerr was a double major in physics and theater at Harvey Mudd College and studied acting at a London conservatory for a semester. She produces and directs plays about scientists, casting a researcher in each role, from lead actor to set designer. She hopes the work will get scientists to reflect on their work. “What is my influence on the world? How do social-political factors influence the work that I’m able to do?” Isaac’s Eye (pictured to the left) touches on an experiment in which Newton slid a needle into the orbit of his eye to see how a change in eye shape affected vision. “Mostly it’s a story about his beef with Robert Hooke,” Kerr says.
